Let me tell you about Mrs. Jackie....

 

Now her family called her Boots, but to most everyone else she was simply Mrs. Jackie. If you asked anyone that knew her what they miss most about her, they would probably say her smile and laugh. Mrs. Jackie had a smile that could truly light up a room - it was pure love. And her smile was NEVER without her favorite lipstick color, chocolate raspberry. Mrs. Jackie and her beautiful smile loved to serve others, and many people loved her back.

Mrs. Jackie often help look after sick people throughout her community while facing her own health challenges. She was diagnosed with End Stage Kidney Disease and continued to work full time while on dialysis and raising her kids. She received a new kidney and regained her health. In 2005, Mrs. Jackie was diagnosed with breast cancer. During her decline in health, Mrs. Jackie was often seen helping and inspiring others, always with a smile and her signature lipstick applied. Sadly, the cancer spread and in October 21st, 2005, Mrs. Jackie earned her wings and eternal rest.

Even though Mrs. Jackie is not physically with us today, her spirit of serving others lives on through her children and family, which created The Jacqueline Rodgers Foundation, Inc, a 501c3 nonprofit, in her honor. Today, the foundation is committed to assisting breast cancer patients and remembering the lives lost to this disease, just as Mrs. Jackie would often do. Donations are used to provide financial assistance to breast cancer survivors and host various programs and celebrations honoring the lives of those affected by breast cancer.
